Current Volunteer Schedule
The following trail projects and volunteer opportunities are sponsored by local land managers and other trail and user groups. Please come out and join one of these projects, or contact the sponsoring organization for details on other ways to help. ROMP works in areas open to bikes, as well as in areas currently closed to bikes to support the larger trail community.

Water Dog Lake Park, Belmont
What: Trail construction and maintenance
When: March 16, March 30, April 14, April 27 Earth Day - Must show!, May 11
; 9 AM
Details: ROMP is partnering with the City of Belmont to build a new trail system in Water Dog Lake Park. The city does not have the resources to build and maintain trails, and San Mateo County has few riding opportunities, so this partnership is a win for everyone. Meet at the entrance at end of Carlmont Drive. For more info contact Belmont Parks and Recreation Dept. at 650-595-7441. RSVP with Berry Stevens (650-364-6785 or bt3mtbiker@earthlink.net). Bring food and water and wear long sleeves and pants for poison oak protection (though we try to avoid it, some contact is inevitable).

Soquel Demonstration State Forest, Soquel
What: Trail maintenance
When: Dec. 9, Jan. 12, Jan. 27, Feb. 10, Mar. 3; 9 AM
Details: Park inside gate over the steel bridge and be ready to ride your bike to work site. Pack a lunch, bring work gloves as well as riding gloves, and dress for a day

Wilder Ranch, Santa Cruz
What: Trail maintenance and enhancement
When: First Sunday of every month, rain or shine, 9:45 AM sharp
Details: Since 1997, MBOSC has sponsored monthly trail work in Wilder Ranch. Parking fees waived for trail crew volunteers. Bring work gloves, long pants, long sleeve shirts, lunch, hat, water, and a great attitude. Visit Trailworkers.com to learn more or to sign up for an upcoming date.

Arastradero Preserve, Palo Alto
What: Habitat restoration and trail work
When: 2nd and 4th Sat. of every month, 9 AM - 1 PM May - Sept. and 10 AM - 2 PM Oct. - Apr. During daylight savings time, also Wed. evening 6 PM - dusk.
Details: Bring lunch and liquids, gloves, sunscreen, hat, layered clothing, sturdy shoes, and tools if you have them (pulaski, hoe, your favorite weed eradicator). Visit Acterra's Arastradero website for more information.

ROMP Trail Education Stations
Periodically we visit local trailheads to distribute literature and talk to folks about trail etiquette, safety, and environmental issues. For more info and a current schedule contact our trail education coordinator at traileducation@romp.org.
- ROMP's chapter of the National Mountain Bike Patrol
We all like to ride, and here is a chance to do some good while you are riding. Visit our patrol web page for details.
- San Mateo County Trails Advisory Committee
Here's an opportunity to help represent mountain biking interests in the development of San Mateo County trails. The San Mateo County Trails Advisory Committee has several open seats and is looking to have diverse representation from all user groups. Requirements are minimal: residency in San Mateo County, an interest in trails, and the willingness to attend one two-hour meeting a month (the second Tuesday of each month, 4-6 PM, in Redwood City). - Santa Clara County Parks
Santa Clara County Parks are looking for volunteers to help with Trailwatch trail patrols and other activities. Visit their website for more details.
- MidPeninsula Regional Open Space District (MROSD)
MROSD, one of the largest land managers in the Bay Area, has many ways to volunteer, including a trail patrol and trail work. Visit their website to find something you'll enjoy.
